And a few more………..

Here are a few layouts that I have finished recently….

This first one is a photo of my dad and his older brother about 67 years ago and using Graphic 45 papers

16th may 2008 0161

This is a photo of my mum, my younger sister Paula and me on the beach one evening at Selsey Bill. Paula and I are both wearing our very 1970s anoraks!.

16th may 2008 0171

I used the Dream Street Menagerie papers for this one and used a photo of Matt (now 18) and his best friend Tessa , my mother and father in laws dog.

16th may 2008 0181

I was quite brave and stamped onto the layout for this last one. Although I love stamping I always shy away from stamping on a nearly finished layout just in case it goes wrong but it didn’t  this time and I love the effect. The photo is of my dad and grandma but we are not quite sure when it was taken other than my dad thinks that perhaps he was wearing his new raincoat for senior school.16th may 2008 0191

I am gradually working my way through the old family photos and must spend some more time researching the family history on my grandma’s side as I seem to be going round in circles with it.

Another Deco Page

25th may 2008 0018

This one was for Vicky whose theme is seaside. I used some of my favourite Eat Cake Graphic stamps, coloured with my watercolour pencils and a little bit of liquid appliqué added to make the waves.

Here is Vickys page to me. My theme is birds and she even managed to use Basic Grey papers….what more could I ask for.

I’m really enjoying this swap and my collection of Deco pages is starting to grow

Basic Grey Challenge 36 - doodling

This weeks challenge is to using doodling in your project.

25th may 2008 009

I decided for this one to use the off cuts that I have in  my drawer and was surprised how much BG there is in there! I love the background papers, the plain ones with the distressed edges, there is so much you can do with them.

I hand cut the tree and trunk and then stamped the deer and bird. I then let loose with brown and white journaling pens and doodled away to my hearts content.

This is the last Basic Grey challenge for a while as the site is being revamped but I aim to try and make a BG card each week untill the challenge returns.

Deco Page Swap

Here is the latest Deco Page that I have made, for Sue this time. Sue’s theme is quotes so I decided to use “Home is where the heart is”

21st may 2008 00004

I used Chalk Eye inks to colour the background, hand cut a heart shape which I embossed the edges of to give it some shape. I made a little mushroom house and then added stamped lettering. I even managed to use some Basic Grey papers in there! I am now off to make Vicky’s page as I will be seeing her later.

Basic Grey Challenge 35 – Ice Cream

Here’s the brief for this weeks challenge;

“This weeks challenge is a really tasty one :), as its nearly summer what better way to celebrate than to have a challenge inspired by a hot summers day favourite treat , that's right Ice cream :), this weeks challenge we would like you to be inspired by your favourite ice cream flavour, you can be inspired many ways by your favourite ice cream”

I have chosen my colours to be strawberries and cream which brings back memories of all the different ice cream flavours that were available on our holidays in Cornwall.

I have used Basic Grey papers from the Phoebe and Two Scoops collections but I can’t remember what the main backing paper is as it was in my off cuts. The stamped image is from Paperbag Studios and the flowers are Prima. Hope you like it.21st may 2008 012

Halloween in May!!!

Well it is only because it has taken me this long to get around to scrapping my Halloween pictures. We had a great Halloween scrap attack party last year – we all dressed up in some great costumes and had Halloween food and also some challenges with prizes. The photos show the evening so well that there was no need for journaling. I made the book from covered chipboard beer mats with a chipboard cover and used Rusty Pickle and Doodlebug papers.

Birdie Beach Hut

I absolutely love beach huts and would dearly love to own my own one at Whitstable.  I love to go for walks by the sea and it usually involves looking at the beach huts and trying to decide which one I would have if I had the odd £20,000 knocking around!

When I saw that Dan at My Crafty Life had produced a bird house template I knew that I wanted to make a little beach hut version. I used off cuts of paper and charms and buttons from my stash, The bird itself is a Maya Road chipboard bird covered in Basic Grey of course.

Basic Grey Challenge 34

Challenge 34 - Anthea's Sketch
For this weeks challenge, our fabulous Design Team Member Anthea has created this fabulous sketch for you to play with :), feel free to twist, flip and stretch the sketch in any way you would like, as long as the sketch can be easily recognised you are good to go :), But remember the golden rule, there must be at least one item from Basic Grey used on your creations :) :)

card sketch 1

I found this sketch quite difficult as there are more elements than I would usually use on a card so after a lot of pondering I decided to keep my card more or less the same as the sketch.

16th may 2008 0031

I used a sheet of background paper from a 6x6 pad of Phoebe and the rest of the papers are from the Porcelain range which were left over from class at Scrapbook Sisters. The greeting stamp was a freebie from the front of a magazine and the stamped image is by Hanglar and Stanglar ( and was kindly stamped for me by Totty ) which I coloured with watercolour pencils.

Can’t wait for the next challenge!!!

Another photo stand

I made the first one of these at Karen’s In Miniature class at Scrapbook Sisters last year. I then made another one for my sister at Christmas and then made this third one for my mother in law for Mother’s Day. I kept it simple and just decorated with peel offs. It is a lovely project and I would certainly make more

Here is a Japanese Book made in class at Scrapbook Sisters many months ago but not shown here on my blog. I have used photographs of our visits to The Japanese Garden at  St Mawgan in Cornwall. The book took a many hours to finish but I am pleased with the result. So enough of the description , here’s the book……

Deco Swap - 3rd Swap

My third swap for the Scrapbook Sisters Deco Page swap was Jannine and as my theme is birds she created this beautiful humming bird for me.

Jannine's theme is In Bloom so after seeing Pam Thorburn's tutorial on her blog I decided to decorate the page with a rose image from a napkin. Well, after lots of modge podge, acrylic paint, crackle paint, embossing powder and a bit of glitter I had my finished page. Unfortunately it curled up a bit so the photograph isn't so good - I didn't dare put it in the scanner!
I'm looking forward to my next swap, the theme is quotations.

Basic Grey Challenge 33

The challenge this week is a colour combo challenge – black and grey +1. Well. I chose my +1 to be lilac and here it is……..

basic grey challenge crop2

I used black cardstock for my card base and then added a piece of Scarlett’s Letter – Fate for my grey layer. I embossed a smaller piece of black Core’dinations with by Cuttlebug and sanded it back to reveal the lilac core. I layered this onto lilac Bazzil cardstock and dampened and rolled the edges of it. I love this Gorguss Girl stamp which I coloured with my lovely set of Derwent watercolour pencils in a little wooden box which DH gave me at Christmas. I didn’t have any lilac flowers so I used the watercolour pencils to change cream ones to lilac. After some lace and a charm from my stash the card was done.

I am really enjoying taking part in Basic Grey Challenges and it pushes my creativity. This card even prompted a hug from DH – he must have been impressed!!!
