Creative Scrappers Sketches 140 & 141

I haven’t participated in the Creative Scrappers Challenge for a while so today I’ve done 2 pages today for last weeks challenge and this weeks challenge. This one is for week 140

I’ve used a strip of Bo Bunny Clover Dots across the bottom of the page with a Bazzil edge strip at the top of it. The 2”x"2” squares are from The DCWV Green stack and the three circular embellishments are made from the same paper. The alphas are some of my precious American Crafts Thickers.

Here is the second sketch and pagefor week 141;

I’ve kept this one very simple and used K & Co Wild Saffron papers which remind me of 70’s designs which suited my photo. The title was cut on the Cricut and there is some concealed journaling behind the photograph which as I am writing this I have realised that I have forgotten to photograph no I will add another photograph tomorrow.

Shimelle’s Sketch of the Week

001crop

Here is my take on this weeks sketch – see here for the original.

I have used some old Creative Imaginations papers which I bought at Scrapbook Sisters a few years ago. I don’t have much of it left but this sketch gave me the opportunity to use up the bits I do have left.

I love walking by the sea – it’s my place to get away from it all, relax and refresh so my scrapbook pages are often using photos that I have taken by the sea. In fact I have a separate folder to keep all my seaside themed scrap papers in.

Apart from the papers and some cardstock all I have used is some Glossy Accents, a white journaling pen and three large Dovecraft brads. the thing that I found most difficult was the journaling - not what I wanted to say but hoe to present it on the page – in the end I went for simplicity and hand wrote my journaling on a piece of cardstock – thank goodness for Herma, giving me the ability to change my mind and my scrapbook page!

Have a Blooming Good Day!

002

This is the first time I have used this little stamp from “My Favourite Things” and I’m pleased with the way it looks.

The patterned  papers are both Basic Grey as is the plain brown that the scalloped circle is cut from and under the patterned papers.

The stamp is coloured with Copics and the white circle and brown scalloped circle are both cut with Nestabilities and my Cuttlebug.

I then added some lace trim and three little heart buttons along with 3 paper flowers over the top of the circle. I wanted some little swirls to go around the flowers so I punched the swirls from the EK Success label punch cut them in half and just added them behind the flowers.

I am entering this card into the following challenges;

Mojo Monday – sketch

Basic Grey Challenge – Flower Power

Bearly Mine – 3 flowers, 2 patterned papers, 1 image

Claudia & Co – 3 buttons and 1 trim

Top Tip Tuesday – flowers

Craft Your Passion – 2 patterned papers

Stamp Fairy – Circles

The Crafty Pad – Something Girly

Challenge 20–Add a Little Friend

This weeks challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Add a Little Friend. I used my Gorjuss girl stamp Feline Friend which seemed very appropriate!

004

I wanted to make a different shaped card this week so I used a template to make the card base which I folded in half. I cut out the  Gorjuss Girl and added her to the flower die cut and finished off with a Prima crochet flower and some gems. The papers used are from Papermania Sweet Nothings and The English Paper Company.

have a look at the blog and join the challenge!

Grungepaper Tote Bag

I have a bit of an addiction for bags and the ones that I have shown on my blog have been machine sewn but this one has been all sewn by hand. I saw the idea in Craft Stamper Magazine last year sometime to make a handbag from Grungeboard but decided that it didn’t suit me as it was an open bag and I like my handbags to be zipped to make sure what little money I have is safe and secure. I decided to size it up to make a tote bag to carry my bits and pieces to classes.

When I started making this bag last week I had not anticipated quite how long it would take and it has taken pretty much most of my free time this last week.

I started by cutting 40 3 inch squares of Grunge paper.

I coloured them all with Distress Inks and Cut and Dry foam which resulted in very inky fingers (not a good look when you are going out for a meal)

I then stamped half of them and embossed the other half with Cuttlebug Embossing folders and some I then lightly inked over with darker ink to make them stand out a bit more.

Using my Tim Holtz ruler I pierced holes along each of the edges and began the long job of sewing it all together which was quite hard on the fingers.

I added 3 inch strips of Grungepaper between the front and back panels to make a gusset.

The handles are make from a strong ribbon attached to the D-rings with nail head brads. I think that the handles are probably a bit long at the moment but I will shorten them after I have tries it out.

I enjoyed working with Grungepaper and I love the smell of it (is that a bit strange???) and now I am pondering on what my next Grungepaper project might be – maybe a purse or wallet or a journal/organiser…….hmmmmm………watch this space.

Edited to add;

Challenges;

Crafty Creations Challenges - birds, polka dots (mine are embossed) and green - hope a bag fits the criteria!

The ribbon is from my stash and the flowers are cut from one of the papers.

Shimelle’s Sketch of the Week

www.lilackittycreations.blogspot.com

Here is a quick layout that I did yesterday afternoon from a sketch on Shimelle’s blog.

001crop

I used some Chatterbox papers that I bought some time ago from Scrapbook Sisters. I love the colours the fresh orange, green and white. I used some of the details on the papers to make my own embellishments.I also used Bazzill Just the Edge borders and American Crafts Fabric Thickers.

The photo was taken at Chartwell House last summer where a little outside lounge had been set up on a little island in the lake.  Unfortunately it had rained earlier in the day and the sofa was very damp hence the reason that I am perched on the very edge of the sofa.

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge – Hearts Desire

At first I was having trouble trying to decide what I would do for this challenge so I Googled “hears desire” to see if it would inspire me. I found an entry on a blog about a lady who had always wanted a vintage VW Beetle and had eventually got her hearts desire! Well that set me thinking as one of my hearts desires would definitely be a vintage VW  Camper – I was given a lovely book about them at Christmas but my problem was that I don’t have any stamps of a camper although I know they are available. So another one of my desires would be to have a beach hut – now I have a stamp for that! When I finished making the card I realised that sunshine at the beach would also make me happy too – I’m easily pleased!!!

Happy Birthdays

Today is Holly’s 17th Birthday – can’t believe the years have gone so fast!

snow walk 024

She is super stylish and a big fan of all things retro or vintage so I made her a card to reflect that.

The digi stamp is a free download from TLC Creations and the background paper is from a Websters pages paper pad.

Edited to add;

I am entering this into;

Stmp Something - use a digi

Alphabet Challenge Blog - J for journey

Paper Crafting Journey - a digi stamp

Southern Girls - anything goes

Fab n Funky - Anything Goes

Yesterday was Holly’s boyfriend Liam’s birthday and as he is future rockstar I made him a card with a guitar on.

003

The guitar was a free embellishment with Creative Cardmaking some time ago The background paper is Basic Grey and Cordinations cardstock embossed with the Cuttlebug and sanded back to the detail. The stars were cut from patterned paper.

Tomorrow is my son’s girlfriend, Bev’s birthday. This is her card

I have already shown this card in the last post but it was made with Bev in mind.

They are all celebrating this weekend so I hope that they all have a great weekend!

Anything Goes……..

This weeks challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Anything Goes.  I decided to use one of my favourite Sugar Nellie stamps – in fact they are all favourites! .I coloured it with Copics, as usual, and used  a Kimberley Polson paper pad that we had in the shop a couple of years ago but was still unused in my stash. I decorated the card with butterflies cut from the paper and covered them with Glossy Accents.

003_crop

I have also decorated the inside of the card although I have kept it fairly simple.

005_crop

Looking at these photos now I seem to have taken them at a funny angle – will try harder next time!

Supplies; Sugar Nellie stamp, Kimberley Polson paper pad, Glossy Accents, Papermania greeting stamps.

Look out for more interesting challenges on the Scrapbook Sisters Blog every week and check out the fab new digi stamps in the shop by Gayle Bond, of some very glamorous  ladies.

Another UFO completed

UFO???? – well that’s just another unfinished object and I have quite a few of them!  Although I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it is my New Years Resolution to finish all these projects I do intend to try and make a good effort to get them all finished.

This one is a mini book made at one of Karen’s In Miniature classes at Scrapbook Sisters. I’m not quite sure when it was – probably about a year ago. Although I loved the Doodlebug papers that we used I struggled to find the right photos to go with them as they are quite sugary sweet. When I looked at it again recently I decided that it would suit photos of a day out we had last Easter when we visited Birchington and Margate.
