A Change of Direction

Over recent months my crafting has taken a change of direction. I am still paper crafting but sewing and knitting has been my main focus recently.

This is my most recent project the Mathilde Blouse made from a pattern from Tilly and the Buttons – you may have seen her on The Great British Sewing Bee.

I am very happy with this top and the fabric was a bargain at £2 per metre from my fabric shopping expedition in Walthamstow with Holly.

I have also recently made this dress again with fabric from Walthamstow but this time only £1 per metre. Because it was such a bargain I bought 5 metres and I’m now wondering what to do with the remaining 2.5 m. Sorry for the rubbish photos – hubby and my smart phone are not a good combination!

My knitting projects have included;

yoga socks for my sister-in-law

phone pictures 462

And a short bolero cardigan for Holly to wear to a wedding with her vintage 1950’s prom dress

I have a few other items still on the needles so there may be more photos soon.

Colour Me Scrappy Challenge #34

Here is the colour palette for challenge #34

And here is my layout for the challenge;

20130320_164137

I have used photographs of myself which is quite unusual for me – especially as they are pre weight loss – although I don’t seem to have many recent photos of me but in these photos I am in St Ives in Cornwall which is of course my favourite place. I’m looking forward to spending some more time there this year just hoping for some warmer weather – it can’t carry on like this surely?

I’m looking forward to the next Colour Me Scrappy Challenge – it’s definitely good for inspiration

Creative Scrappers Sketch 249 & 250

I’m catching up today with a couple of layouts for Creative Scrappers that I had finished earlier this week when I had a snow day but not shown here.

Sketch 249

2013-03-12 13.47.45

I loved these photos that my daughter took of her boyfriend with her reflection showing in his sunglasses and the papers were so suited to him as he is a musician.

Sketch 250

2013-03-12 19.52.30

I carried on using the We R Memory Keepers papers for this second layout of my daughter at her 18th Birthday Party in a stunning dress that she made herself. There are just a few of this collection of papers left to use up on my next layout.

Colour Me Scrappy

I’ve found a new challenge blog called Colour Me Scrappy which has challenges based on colour pallets.

I have completed 3 layouts based on their current challenges.

Challenge 31

With the added challenge of lots of layers.

2013-03-12 14.50.09

I hope I have enough layers.

Challenge 32

Challenge 33

With this Sketch

I’ve really enjoyed the freedom these challenges give me with just the colours as a starting point but it is enough to give me the kick-start to get scrapping!

Creative Scrappers #245

This weeks sketch at Creative Scrappers was quite a tricky one I thought. I had to make a template to make the sunburst effect but it turned out quite well.

003

Here is the sketch;

I am continued with my resolution to use my paper stash and I have used the We R Memory Keepers White Out Collection that i started to use for last weeks Creative Scrappers sketch.

Less is More

Here's this weeks card for Less is More I used a Tando Stamps stencil and a studio calico stamp. Sorry I didn't manage to comment on other blogs last week. I will try harder this week!

Fancy Pants

I read a blog post some time ago on Shimelle’s blog, (see here) about choosing a set of papers and using them until they are all gone and decided that as I had three layouts to make then that would be what I would do.

Usually I have this strange aversion to using up any of my whole sheets of paper and I’m always trying to make layouts from my scraps drawer hence every time I buy new papers my paper collection just grows and grows and now the papers drawers in my craft room are now literally fit to bursting. So, my late New Years Resolution must be to start using it not just stash it away, yes, even my beloved Basic Grey.

Saying that, I picked a fairy soft target and used a range of papers that I’m not particularly attached to! – Fancy Pants Botanical Papers.

All the photographs in these layouts are from our 2011 holiday in Devon which I haven’t scrapped much- (oops just realized that I have just put 2010 on the last one – must find a new sticker!)

002

This layout is inspired by Shimelle’s “Starting Point “- I love the stamping on this layouts, the birds and flowers are from a tiny stamp set from Prima. The little pointing hand tag was from a box of Dr Stuarts Teabags!

This next layout is taken from Shimelle’s “Sketch to Scrapbook Page” Here is the sketch;

I flipped the positioning of the photos and this is what I made;

My third layout is from the previous “Sketch to Scrapbook Page

scrapbooking sketch by shimelle laine @ shimelle.com

Again, I’ve flipped the photos around as the ones I wanted to use were landscape rather than portrait.

After making all three layout all that i had left was three little scraps so just have to decide now which paper collection to use next!

Less is More

The theme this week at Less is More is Friends so after quite an absence from this challenge, here is my entry. I used a Paperbag Studios Stamp and a MME word stamp. This is my first attempt to blog from my phone so hope it all works!

And here is the sketch;

I haven’t done much scrapping recently although I am working on an 8x8  Jubilee Year album with photos from garden parties, the Olympic torch, the Paralympics, the Jubilee beacon and finishing with the lord Mayors Parade so I will share that when I have finished titivating it!
