Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge

This weeks challenge is an Easter card and I must admit at first I was a bit stumped. I looked through my stamps and couldn’t find anything which I considered “Easter-ish” but then I was inspired by this lovely warm weather to think of the great outdoors and with the help of my new picket fence die I came up with this card.

The letters are cut from a X-Cut die which I must admit is a bit tricky to use, the scalloped ovals are Nesties, the tree is cut on the Cricut (and there are still some on the die cut wall at Scrapbook Sisters), the fence is my new Poppystamps die and everything else is punched with various small punches.

Anything Goes

This week at Scrapbook Sisters the theme of the challenge is anything goes. When I went out to my craft room I had no idea what I was going to make but when I looked through my stamps I found this great little stamp from K & C0 that I hadn’t used yet and also the little doilies that are in Scrapbook Sisters shop that I also hadn’t used yet. and then the card just came together. The paper is from Webster's Pages and is from a free 6x6 pad which was given away last month with a card magazine. The swirl is a chipboard die cut which was left over from a kit from a class at Scrapbook Sisters and the paper flowers were from a local pound shop.

A challenging card challenge

it’s never easy making a card for a sad occasion but the theme of the card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters this week is a “sympathy” or “Thinking of You “card.

I used my bargain Penny Black stamp which I bought last year for 50p which I stamped and embossed in detail silver embossing powder. I matted it on to silver and navy card and then tied it with a silver-grey ribbon. The die cut is a Marianne die.

It’s a while since I’ve done any heat embossing but I still can’t fail to be amazed when the heat gun does it’s work and the embossing powder takes on that shine. I think it’s a technique I shall be repeating in the near future.

I’ve added glassy accents to some of the bubbles but I don’t think that it really shows up very well in the photo.
