Sketch of the Week

After a break from last weeks sketch  at Shimelle’s blog which was mostly due to lack of ink in the printer I’m back with a layout for this week.

Here’s the sketch

2005

And here is my layout

030

I have used some black and white papers from my stash, Bazzil Just The Edge and some red K& Co Paper. The title is made with lovely red felt American Crafts alphabet stickers – almost too nice to use and then I’ve added a few die cut and punched shapes.

The photography is me with a Charlie Chaplin look alike. I noticed him on The South Bank in London when we visited the London Eye last year. He saw me taking his photo and posed and then beckoned me over to stand with him and  for my husband to take the photos. Martin was laughing so much he had trouble even taking the photo!

Hope you are having a good bank holiday weekend if you are in the UK.  Tomorrow, weather permitting I am planning to go to The Sweeps Festival at Rochester so I’m looking forward to taking some photos of the Morris Men!

A Little Bird

Here is a card that I made for this weeks less is more challenge.

024

The theme is congratulations or thank you. I chose to use a lovely set of Paper Artsy stamps called Flora & Fauna 4.

To start with I stamped the bird onto the card base then I stamped it again onto grey paper and green paper and cutting out the leaves and the bird I stuck them on to the bird on the card base. I stamped an extra wing and a leaf with I layered up with foam pads I did the same process in the top corner this time using pink spotty paper.

026

I finished off by adding little dots of Liquid Pearls for the berries  but looking at this photo in detail I can see that I have missed a few……oh well back to the craft desk for me!

Distress

The theme this week at the Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge is

           Distress

003_crop

I used a light brown cardstock as my background and then used the back of some left over patterned papers which are actually Halloween papers but they were craft paper which fitted quite nicely. The stamp is a Tim Holtz stamp which I stamped with Distress Ink and then used the Distress Ink to colour then lady in the foreground. The mannequin is coloured with two different Distress Inks with a little ribbon tied at the waist. The sentiment is actually the back of some paper chain strips which have vintage rulers on the other side.

Well it’s just a quick post from me this morning as this is the first day back after the Easter break for us and I need to do the school run and get myself ready for work.

Have A Tweet Day

Yes, I know it’s Tuesday but I did make this card on Monday for the Mojo Monday challenge which I haven’t visited for a while

This weeks challenge is a choice of sketches, round or square.

As you can see, I chose the round option

002

The little birdie stamp was free on the front of a card magazine, the pink backing paper is Basic Grey, the stripes are patterned self adhesive tape that I have had for absolutely ages but I don’t know who they are made by. It was one of those purchases that I absolutely had to have but have never actually used. The flower is made from Cordinations cardstock, as are the leaves. I made the scallops on the outside of the card by punching one inch circles and cutting them in half.

Easter Sunday

It’s a sunny Easter Sunday and after getting up early this morning I have made a challenge card before the rest of the family are really up and dressed.

001

Here’s the inside;

002

I followed the sketch for The Sweetest Thing challenge

and used the criteria for The Penny Black at Allsorts which is to use black, white and one other colour.

I have used an old Penny Black stamp which I stamped in Adirondack Ink and used the same ink to colour it with. I teamed it up with some turquoise cardstock and ribbon and some Doodlebug paper.

4x6 Photo Love - March

Why is it that when you have a whole month to do something you still leave it until the end – well that’s what I do anyway!  I’ve had the details of Shimelle’s 4x6 Photo Love tutorial for March printed out for weeks and only just got round to making the layout.

028_crop

The challenge this month is to follow the sketch provided using 3 4x6 photos. The ones I have used here are of my mum when we went out for a walk recently. Mum doesn’t like having her photo taken much so I took a few sneaky photos when she wasn’t looking.

The papers I used are K & Co and were from Scrapbook Sisters 5th Birthday Classes last year. Because the layout only required strips of papers I used the scraps which were leftover from my layouts made in class.

You can also see this layout on the 2 Peas in a Bucket gallery here along with the previous 2 layouts.

I hope that you are enjoying your Easter weekend and that you are finding some scrapping time too.

Buttons!

This week at Scrapbook Sisters the theme of this weeks challenge is

                     Buttons.

When I had a look at Scrapbook Sisters blog this morning I had to giggle because Julie Wilson, Julie Blakeman and I have all made quite similar cards  using buttons as flowers! Well obviously great minds think alike!

The stamps are a set of Woodware clear stamps and the papers are Basic Grey and K & Co.  Again I have decorated the inside of the card,

Today I was please to see that my layout  about the Boris Bikes  has been chosen as one of Shimelle’s favourite dozen. A few weeks ago there was also another one here  and also here.

Well, the weather is good and there is a long weekend coming up so it should be a good time to get out, take some photos and do some scrapping!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #152

It feels like a touch of deja-vu here! the Creative Scrappers sketch this week and Shimelle’s sketch (see yesterdays post)  this week are quite similar but needless to say I have enjoyed working on both. They have both involved lots of white space which is just my thing.Here is the sketch;

Here is my layout;

006

I’ve used DCWV Green Stack papers. They are only 8x8 but still work well on a 12x12 page. The little tree is a Cuttlebug  die cut and the bird on a branch is from my new Marianne Die which is rapidly becoming my  new favourite.

Boris Bikes

When Martin and I were in London last summer we spotted a line of new Boris Bikes and I couldn’t resist a photo. We also saw a few people riding round on them although I’m not sure that I would be brave enough to cycle around London! I have used the photo with some Glitz Design papers to make a layout for this weeks sketch at Shimelle’s blog.

010

009

I used parts of the papers to create the embellishments around the title which made from some lovely fabric American Crafts letters. The strip down the middle is made from 3 different sizes of punched circles with the smallest blue ones mounted on foam pads. I really like the white ( or should I say black ) space that is left on this layout.

Scrapbook Sisters Challenge–Wedding Card

The theme this week for the challenge at Scrapbook Sisters is Wedding/Anniversary. I think this is probably only the second wedding card that I have ever made in many years of card making. The last wedding that I went to was my sisters wedding about 10 years ago and at the time I was new to card making and not confident enough to make a card so I bought a card – that probably was the last card that I did buy though.

002_crop

I used a pearlescent card for the base which I made into my favourite square card. I then stamped and embossed in Silver Detail Embossing Powder using the Stampendous Ruffled Bloom stamp again. I used it here last week for another card challenge. I cut out the 3 flowers. The first I used flat on the card, the second I cut the petals nearer the centre and used a ball tool to give it some shaping and on the last flower I only cut out the centre which I shaped again with a bool tool and attached with a foam pad. I also added a little Glamour Dust to the petals but I’m not sure that it really shows up in the photo. The centre of the card is one of the die cut shapes which are now selling in the shop, stuck onto some silver self adhesive card which I hand cut to give a silver border. Lastly I added some pretty silver peel-off corners. The greeting was cut on the Cricut , again with the self adhesive silver card.

005

I didn’t neglect the inside of the card with another flower stamped off the page and embossed again in silver and then I repeated the die cut shape as on the front of the card.

Shimelle’s Sketch of the Week

Here is the second layout that I made on Friday night and this one is for Shimelle’s Sketch of the Week. Here is the sketch

1948

whitstable 002

I used Bo Bunny dotted paper again for the background and  the patterned papers are from Creative Imaginations. I have used these papers several times and these some of the last few scraps that I have – I may be able to squeeze one more layout out of them. The title is made with plain Woodware Chippies as is the hear but that is covered with some more of the paper. I have also added some little bubble embellishments here and there.

Creative Scrappers

I spent a very enjoyable evening yesterday at Scrapbook Sisters Scrap Attack. Despite lots of laughter I completed 2 layouts. This is the first for the Creative Scrappers Challenge.

Creative_Scrappers_150

whitstable 001

I used American Crafts papers which I bought in TK Maxx in Brighton last year. They are very bright and graphic but I love them. The alphabet stickers are also American Crafts and the butterfly punch is Martha Stewart.

The photo was taken last year when we had a week of days out. This is at Samphire Hoe and as there was only the two of us I put the camera on self timer and ran into the picture – it did take several times to get it right. I must have looked a bit strange running backwards and forwards!

Published!

I made a layout for The Scrapbook Magazine some time ago, before Christmas I think and I sent it in but it didn’t appear in the magazine so I was going to show it on my blog soon. When I got to Scrapbook Sisters last night for my fortnightly class Karen said that she had seen my layout and there it was in the magazine – only small on the readers page but it is there none the less. Here is the original;

The papers are from Prima – aren’t they gorgeous!!!

Scrapbook Sisters 2nd Scrapbook Challenge

For this months challenge at Scrapbook Sisters the challenge theme is Wedding.

I chose to use last weeks class papers for the layout as they are such pretty colours;

P1100758[3]

I got a bit carried away adding gems. I started with a few on the background paper and then thought it would be a good idea to add them to the punched border – by the time I was halfway through I had changed my mind about that but by then there was no turning back!

This challenge is up for a whole month so plenty of time to make a layout to enter for the challenge

Less is More….A Touch of Red

Here is my entry for this weeks challenge at Less is More. The theme is A Touch of Red.

026

I have used one of my favourite stamps the Ruffled Bloom from Stampendous which I have stamped with a  Cranberry Adirondack Ink Pad. Using water and a paint brush i have pulled some of the colour from the outline to colour the edge of the petals and some of the lines of the petals. I then mounted it onto matching cardstock with ribbon behind and added a few red gems to the centre of the flower and the corner of the card.

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges;

Less is More – A Touch of Red

Abc Challenge – R for ribbon

Creative Cottage – white space

Craft Your passion – anything goes

It’s All Yellow…….

That’s the theme this week at the Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge.

CARD CHALLENGE 001_crop

I have used my current obsession the Bo Bunny Dotted paper and a set of Creative Expressions stamps that I have had since last summer but had not used. The punched border is a Martha Stewart punch and the card is finished off with a few gems. I have also decorated the inside of the card too.

Why not enter a card in the Scrapbook Sisters challenge – it’s a nice easy one this week!

Mother’s Day

Just a quick post from me tonight. I’ve had a lovely day today visiting my mum and dad today and then coming home for dinner with my children.

This year I made my mum a box and filled it with handmade cards for her. Here is the box and a few of the cards;
