Challenge at Studio 101

The challenge for the 1st of January is to use;

- altered alphas

- fabric

- a symmetrical design

I found the fabric element quite difficult as I was originally going to use a white felt snowflake but realised that I have every colour of felt except white! - so I used 2 little strips of white muslin and pleated and stapled them. The alphas are chipboard which I have painted with white acrylic paint and then embossed with holographic embossing powder. I am not sure that my design is totally symmetrical but it gives the impression that it should be!

The photo is one I took of my daughter  in our garden in the snow.

Creative Scrappers Sketch #88

This weeks sketch at Creative Scrappers is quite a busy one so I decided to keep it quite simple and graphic.

Creative_Scrappers_88

I used a sheet of the lovely Cloud 9 paper from the Max's Backyard range and some photos of my son when he was about 18mths old, over 17 years ago!

A Few Layouts.....

Here are a few layouts  that I have made recently. Mostly they have been started at our Scrapbook Sisters fortnightly classes.

Studio 101 Challenge

The challenge for  Studio 101 was to make a layout with;

*lots of white space

*three photos

*the theme fear.

Initially I found the theme "fear" a bit difficult but after a chat on the forum I decided to go with "no fear".

JANUARY 10th 2010 003x

I used plain cardstock for the background and used Tim Holtz masks for the spiders webs. My photos have a strange purple tinge as I have just about run out of ink in my printer and despite a trip to town today I couldn't get a new ink cartridge so I will replace these photos when I can print out better copies.

I decided to play on the theme fear by jounaling about the fact that I'm not afraid of spiders and used a photo taken at Longleat of me holding a very big hairy legged spider.  I may not be afraid of spiders but if it was a mouse, a rat or a hedgehog I wouldn't be so happy!

Journal Your Christmas - the last four days!

I have really enjoyed participating in Journal Your Christmas this year and I am quite pleased with myself  having kept up to date with it.

Day 34

JANUARY 7th 2010 001x

My printer has run out of ink hence the strange colouring on this photo. Thank goodness for Herma - I can remove the photo and add a better copy when I can get more ink  - I'm not venturing out in the snow just for ink!

Day 35

JANUARY 7th 2010 002x

This is my page about anything that I might do differently next year.

Day 36

JANUARY 7th 2010 003x

This project has really exhausted my supply of alphabet stickers so here I have used up all my leftovers including cutting up some letters to create others - I definitely needed more t's

Day37

JANUARY 7th 2010 004x

This is one of my favourite pages using some of the lovely My Minds Eye papers and it is also the last page.

Here are a couple of photos of my completed album

JANUARY 7th 2010 005

JANUARY 7th 2010 006

As you can see my album is a bit more than 2 1/2 inches thick so my problem now is how to bind it - my original idea was with book rings but I will definitely need to look for some bigger book rings and I think it is far too big for the bind it all. Hmm......it needs some thinking about.

I am planning to participate in another couple of challenges but this time with weekly or monthly pages rather than daily pages so with those and my Scrapbook Sisters classes it should be a productive year.

Journal Your Christmas - Day 33

http://lilackittycreations.blogspot.com/

The prompt for today is "innocence" so I have used a photo of myself and my little friend. The photo was taken on our trip to see Father Christmas and I have written about  our discussion about whether this was the real Father Christmas or not, as my little friend knows that Father Christmas has some helpers dressed like him because he is rather busy at this time of year. It was decided that this Father Christmas was the real Father Christmas - or was she just hedging her bets?
